Important Notes

Arkansas adopted 2021 ICC codes (IBC/IRC/IFC) through the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code. The plumbing code is still on 2018 edition. The energy code is based on 2014/2015 IECC. The IEBC is still on 2012 edition. The New Madrid Seismic Zone affects eastern Arkansas — Seismic Design Category D in Craighead, Mississippi, Crittenden, and other eastern counties. FEMA Wind Zones III and IV apply for tornado shelter requirements. Northwest Arkansas (Benton/Washington counties) is the fastest-growing region. The Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board has reciprocity with Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
