NY has a DUAL code system: the Uniform Code applies statewide EXCEPT in NYC, which has its own Construction Codes. The Uniform Code is based on 2018 ICC codes with NY amendments. NYC codes are based on 2009 ICC codes with extensive NYC modifications. A 2024 code update is in progress (public comment period). The Energy Code (ECCCNYS) applies to ALL buildings statewide including NYC.
